A Word About Entries
What we will accept
The 2008 Newtown Flicks Short Film Festival is open to all Australian made short films, including documentaries, animation, new media and stuff that we haven't even thought of yet. Our aim is to show as much as we possibly can across two and half days, giving people the opportunity to meet and mingle in a friendly environment. It doesn't matter if it's been shown at other festivals, was made years ago or made as part of a film course. The only criteria is that entries be less than twenty minutes in length.
Prize Categories
This years festival will feature cash prizes in four categories:
The Open Category - $1000 This is for films shot by individuals, production companies, funded/unfunded and anything not shot as part of a film course. Decided by a panel of judges.
Film School - $1000 This category is for student works made as part of film study. Decided by a panel of judges.
Treehouse - $1000 Treehouse is an award specifically for Short Films shot for young children. This one is open to all. Yep, you guessed it. Judges.
Director's Choice - $1000 This one's open to all entries and will be decided by the Director's of Newtown Flicks and will look to reward work that slips through all categories, we believe shows potential for greater things or simply, that we enjoyed watching it.
Other awards will be announced closer to the date, so keep an eye on the site for more information.
Screening Conditions Now, I would be remiss if I didn't include this. We aim to show as much as we possibly can across the weekend, but any decisions of what will be shown will rest with the directors of Newtown Flicks. So check out the conditions of entry and put May 30, 31 and June 1 in your diary. |
